Our proposed Monorail route is configured in the shape of an ‘X’.

The north-south route starts at a large Park and Ride at Howard and Lamar down Lamar then proceeds down Lamar at the triangle. The Monorail will service the UT Campus, the Central Business District (CBD) area, and the State Capitol. The Monorail proceeds just west of the State Capitol on Lavaca and crosses the river at South First Street. The Monorail then transitions to South Congress at Oltorf until it reaches another large Park and Ride at IH-35 and Slaughter Lane.

Our Northwest commuter route proceeds along US-183 from a large Park and Ride near 620 and the Lakeline mall. Stations are spaced further apart in this area to allow the Monorail to achieve a higher average speed and therefore more quickly bring commuters downtown. Thus, the Monorail functions as a commuter rail line. The Northwest route connects with the Main North-South line at Airport Blvd. and proceeds into East Austin and the Robert Mueller Airport redevelopment. This line proceeds south through Pleasant Valley, the dense student housing along Riverside and proceeds to the airport.

The Southwest line runs from the ACC Pinnacle Campus in Southwest Austin past the ‘Y’ at Oak Hill and across William Cannon and Ben White until it meets with the North-South line at Riverside.

An East-West Line at Oltorf services the dense student housing in that area. Another East-West line begins at Pleasant Valley on Cesar Chavez, stops at the Austin Convention Center, then proceeds north to service the East side of the Capitol and the UT East Mall and Texas Memorial Stadium.
